"Allow me to recite from the Tenets of Wonderful-Ryu: When a hundred brave souls unite as one, bodies of steel exact justice undone. Becoming the fist that safeguards the weak, the beacons of hope protecting the meek--"
― Wonder-White reciting the Tenets of Wonderful-Ryu, Operation 004-A
Wonder-White (real name Momoe Byakkoin) is one of The Wonderful 101's protagonists. White is a Wonderful One, a member of a team of 100 special combat agents created by the CENTINELS Planetary Secret Service to defend the Earth from the GEATHJERK Federation Supreme Armada.
A highly disciplined master of Wonderful-Ryu ninjutsu, Wonder-White is calm, focused, and follows instructions. If it weren't for his love for long winded proverbs and introductions, Wonder-White would be the model Wonderful One: White has the extremely time consuming habit of waxing philosophically before, during, and after each battle, much to the impatience (or rage) of those around him.
Wonder-White joins the team in Operation 004-A dual wielding the claws Dantenmaru and Zanjimaru, and is the default user of Unite Claw.
Wonderful File[]
A young master of the 100-year-old Wonderful-Ryu ninjutsu. He is the only member of the team who does not have a weapon developed by the CENTINELS, instead using Dantenmaru and Zanjimaru, weapons passed down through his family for generations.
Valuing discipline and harmony, Wonder-White never forces his own beliefs on others, thinking it more honorable to meditate with his thoughts quietly. While the rest of the Wonderful 100 often run with their emotions, he is the only member who is calm and collected, able to analyze the situation objectively. Working as an aid to the inexperienced Red, he is a silent support for the rest of the team.
Well... Maybe not so silent. White's penchant for proverbs and long-winded introductions often finds him spinning out of control, waxing philosophical even in the midst of combat, and ultimately becoming a nuisance to the rest of the team.
He enjoys tea and Japanese sweets. His favorite words are, "If I am to die, may it be upon the straw tatami mats."
Description[]
Appearance[]
Momoe Byakkoin is a Japanese man with a lanky physique. His eyes are brown, he has black, neck-length hair, and he wears a patterned headband over his forehead and under his hair. A very traditional Japanese man, he wears a white kimono with red trim and faint floral patterns on its sleeves, light gray hakama trousers, and dark split-toe shoes. A folding fan is tucked into the strap of his hakama, and a tan garment, possibly a folded haori jacket, is draped around his neck.
As Wonder-White, he dons a Wonder-Mask and a CENTINEL-Suit resembling a white keikogi with black trim and a black belt, with a white jacket with popped collars brandishing the Wonderful Ones logo across its back. The boots of the suit have red accents and split-toes, and underneath the keikogi is what appears to be a layer of gold-colored chain mail, which becomes more visible as the suit becomes damaged. White also wears a hooded face mask and a cloth headband with a large golden kanji, "百 (hyaku)", meaning "one hundred", attached to the front. White's face mask, combined with his Wonder-Mask, almost completely obscures his face and head.
Like all Wonderful Ones, when White activates his suit's Unlimited Form, a cape is released from the back of the suit and protective plates extend from his mask, covering his (already covered) mouth. When unmasked, White's suit vanishes and he's reduced to a dark red fundoshi loincloth with a white kanji "百 (hyaku)" on its front.
Wonder-White is the only Wonderful One to wield a weapon not developed by the CENTINELS, instead wielding his family heirlooms, Dantenmaru and Zanjimaru: a pair of matching claw weapons each consisting of three parallel metal blades that curve downward at the tips, attached to large white arm-guards that are secured over the entire forearm by colored cordage, which White wears at all times. On each arm-guard is a colored symbol resembling a taijitu, or Yin and yang symbol. Zanjimaru is red with gold claws and trim and worn over the right arm, and Dantenmaru is blue with silver claws and trim and worn over the left arm. [1]
Personality and Background[]
A highly disciplined master of Wonderful-Ryu ninjutsu, Wonder-White is described as the only member of the Wonderful Ones to be calm and collected, and able to objectively analyze a situation. Wonder-White has a modest disposition and values harmony, and is one of the most cooperative members of the team. White never forces his opinions on others, preferring to meditate with his thoughts quietly, and as a result he never gets involved with any of the team's internal conflicts. White is highly observant and is always quick to report any important observations he makes during missions, allowing him to act as a helpful aid to Wonder-Red.
Wonder-White's sole flaw is his love of long-winded proverbs and introductions: White will seize any opportunity to wax philosophically or start reciting his favorite quotes, particularly the 100 Tenets of Wonderful-Ryu, at length.
White often does so before, during, and after each battle, regardless of any sense of urgency, which can come as a nuisance and an annoyance to the rest of the team. As a result, White's monologues are often cut short by Wonder-Pink, the Wonderful One with the least amount of patience for his poetic self expression. Fortunately, cooperative as ever, Wonder-White is always understanding of the fact that sometimes his philosophical musings must be cut short for the sake of the mission.
Predictably, Wonder-White speaks with a stereotypical Japanese accent, and in addition to frequently reciting Japanese proverbs, he often substitutes English words for their Japanese equivalents in his dialogue as well.
In the Japanese version of The Wonderful 101's dialogue, White often includes various forms of Japanese wordplay in his speech, a trait which is not reflected in the English version of his dialogue.
A newspaper headline in the Epilogue reveals that White eventually set a new filibuster record in Japan. The Wonderful 101 Operation WOOF! reveals that White and Wonder-Yellow are training partners, and that after the events of the game, the two once stopped a rampaging Die-Rixen with the help of local wildlife.
Gameplay[]

Wonder-White automatically joins the team during Operation 004-A, and is the first Unite Claw user recruited in the game, permanently enabling the use of Unite Claw in all future levels and playthroughs. White is also the default user of Unite Claw, and is automatically selected to use the Unite Morph unless he's unavailable or the set user of Unite Claw is changed using the Leader Select menu.

Trivia[]
- White's first and last name each start with the kanji "百 (hyaku)", meaning "one hundred", an obvious reference to The Wonderful 100 (if you know how to read kanji, that is.) The kanji is also included in the design of White's CENTINEL-Suit.
- "百 (hyaku)" is derived from the kanji "白 (shiro)", meaning white. When White's CENTINEL-Suit is damaged in later parts of the game's story, the kanji "百 (hyaku)" on his head is damaged in such a way that makes it resemble the kanji "白 (shiro)".
- The kanji used to write White's first name, "百恵 (Momoe)", means "Hundred Blessings." Interestingly, Momoe is a feminine name.
- White's last name, "百虎院 (Byakkoin)", roughly translates to "White Tiger Temple" referring to the White Tiger of the West in traditional Chinese astronomy.
- White's English voice actor, Yuri Lowenthal, is a fluent Japanese speaker. Allegedly, the original Japanese accent Lowenthal used for White was considered too natural, and he was requested to use a more stereotypical Japanese accent for his performance.[citation needed]
- Wonder-White's assigned city, Shinshu, is a historical name for the region of Japan now known as Nagano Prefecture. Referring to the region as Shinshu may be a reference Shinshu Field, a location in Ōkami.
- If you try to skip recruiting Wonder-White in Operation 004-A by using Wonderful Codes to unlock Wonder-Daddy early (another Unite Claw user,) Unite Claw will be disabled and Wonder-Daddy will be hidden from your leader select screen in the entire area after the Unite Whip swing. This makes it impossible to open the doors blocking access to the rest of the level until White joins the team, preventing you from progressing further into the level without him.
- In the Japanese version of The Wonderful 101, the numbered proverbs White recites during his self-introduction are wordplays where the first word of each proverb starts with the same sound as its number, for example: "Hitotsu, hito wa omoiyari (One, be considerate)", "Futatsu, furusato kaero kana (Two, perhaps I should return to my hometown)", and so on.[2]
- In the Japanese version of The Wonderful 101, Wonder-White is the only Wonderful One who's Wonder-Eyes transformation call is subtitled in kanji rather than katakana (the norm for representing loanwords in Japanese.) Using kanji to phonetically represent a loanword in such a manner is a form of wordplay known as ateji.[2]
- Wonder-White may be partially based on the boss Frost Tiger from Viewtiful Joe 2, a poetic samurai who battles using ice powers and his claws. Wonder-White's last name, "百虎院 (Byakkoin)", which roughly translates to "White Tiger Temple", reinforces this idea.
- The dance White performs during his Wonder-Eyes transformation is a warrior dance known as Atsumori, which is commonly associated with the Japanese daimyō Oda Nobunaga, who was known to perform it frequently.
- Strangely, in the HQ Model Gallery, Wonder-White's "Damaged Ver." model is displayed in Unlimited form instead of his normal form. No other characters display this error.
- Wonder-White appears as a Trophy in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U.

- ↑ It's not completely clear as to which claw is Dantenmaru and which is Zanjimaru: White's claws are only ever identified individually in two images in the Object & Item Artwork section of the in-game Gallery, however, their names are swapped between both images. If you are to only consider the image showing the finalized weapon models, then Zanjimaru is the red and gold claw and Dantenmaru is the blue and silver claw.
