Underground Items are a recurring form of hidden items found throughout The Wonderful 101. They can only be obtained by stomping the ground using Unite Hammer, which will unearth any item in the radius of the attack's shock wave.
Underground Items are completely hidden, and the only way to reliably find them is to purchase the Treasure Sensor from the Wonderful Mart, which gives P-Star the ability to detect them for you.
Obtaining all 83 Underground Items in the game is the objective of the Master Stomper Bottle-Cap. Underground Items that have already been found have their locations marked by a Wonderful Emblem.
Note: because Unite Hammer is required to obtain Underground Items in the first place, it's normally impossible to obtain any in a new save file before the ability is unlocked in Operation 003-A.
However, this limitation can be avoided in the Remastered version of the game by using Wonderful Codes to unlock Wonder-Rodin (and Unite Hammer) early, allowing you to begin obtaining Underground Items from the very start of a new save file.

Certain areas of the game also contain more Underground Items, however, these Underground Items do not count for the Master Stomper Bottle-Cap, and they are in fact reset each time you leave their respective areas, meaning they will not be marked by the usual Wonderful Emblem when you return.
As part of its challenge, Operation 005-B's Kahkoo-regah Secret Mission contains these ten Enemy Weapons as Underground Items:
As part of its challenge, Operation 007-A's Kahkoo-regah Secret Mission contains eight Underground Items, which are all GEATH-Remotes.
Mission 011 of Operation 101 is identical to Operation 005-B's Kahkoo-regah, and includes the same ten Enemy Weapons as Underground Items.
