Time Attack is a free downloadable game mode available exclusively for The Wonderful 101: Remastered. It's a time trial game mode that allows players to race through any level in the game to achieve the fastest times possible. Abilities and unlocks are standardized to ensure equal footing between players, and personal bests are saved and uploaded online allowing players to compete with each other for the best times in each level.

The Time Attack game mode was a stretch goal in The Wonderful 101: Remastered's crowdfunding campaign, unlocked for reaching $1 Million in funding. The DLC was released on June 15, 2021.

Official Description[]

A new way to experience the 100-hero Unite Action spectacular The Wonderful 101: Remastered has just made the scene in the form of a free DLC game mode!

Time Attack is a purely action-focused challenge in which you can try your hand at beating stages as fast as possible. Non-essential cutscenes are skipped automatically to let you blast through the stage of your choice stress-free, and when trying to outdo yourself, you can keep an eye on the new Record Gauge to see how you're stacking up against your personal best! You can also upload your times to online rankings and see how you compare to Wonderful Ones from around the world!

*Warning: stages that have not been completed in Story Mode will be selectable in Time Attack Mode, so beware of spoilers.
*This DLC was made possible through a crowdfunding stretch goal supported by 33,199 fans, who we'd like to thank from the bottom of our hearts!

To the mighty heroes who've banded together across the globe to repel the GEATHJERK invaders, we present this Time Attack in gratitude. UNITE UP and see how fast you can save the planet again!

The Time Attack game mode is accessed from the game's title screen.

To ensure an equal footing between all competing players, progress from the main game does not carry over into Time Attack, instead the same save file is shared by all players. What this means is that:

  • All levels in the game are accessible at all times in Time Attack, including levels that have not been reach/completed in the chosen save file.
  • Consumable items cannot be brought into levels, only consumable items that are found within levels can be used.
  • The Vitality Gauge is at max size.
  • All Minor Wonderful Ones are already recruited, and Prince Vorkken, Chewgi, Wonder-Goggles, Immorta, and Wonder-Red (Emeritus) are also recruited to allow the use of their Unite Morphs.
  • Every Unite Morph and every Skill is purchased/unlocked.
  • You are limited to 2 Custom Block slots, and every Custom Block except for Full Automatic and Infinite Energy is available.

Additionally, only 3 Difficulties can be selected for Time Attack: Normal, Hard, and 101% Hard. Your starting team size also is restricted depending on the chosen difficulty: Normal starts you with 40 members, Hard 50 members, and 101% Hard 60 members.
If purchased, Vorkken Mode is selectable in Time Attack, but the leaderboards will show if a player's time was accomplished as the Wonderful Ones or as Prince Vorkken.

During a Time Attack challenge, all non-QTE cutscenes are automatically skipped, and Missions are no longer ranked: instead they function as checkpoints or "splits" that divide levels into segments to facilitate timing. When competing against your best time, on-screen you can select between an overall level timer or a timer for each segment. Additionally, the Retry option in the pause menu is replaced by a Restart option, which will restart the level from the beginning.

Leaderboards are separated between the Switch, PS4, and Steam versions of The Wonderful 101: Remastered. Time Attack is playable offline, but times cannot be uploaded to the leaderboards unless connected to the internet when starting and completing a challenge.
