"And we're the Wonderful 100! I hardly think adding one more to our number will slow us down."
― Wonder-Red, Operation 006-A

Secret Wonderful Ones are The Wonderful 101's ultimate reward for unlocking Bottle-Caps. Secret Wonderful Ones are bonus Wonderful Ones ranging from permanent versions of temporary story characters, supporting characters that aren't otherwise playable, and other special characters.

There's a total of 15 Secret Wonderful Ones to unlock. Progress towards unlocking them can be viewed from the Secrets section of the Bottle-Cap Collection after completing the game.

In addition to being unlocked by collecting Bottle-Caps, Secret Wonderful Ones can also be unlocked early by correctly entering Wonderful Codes or Platinum Codes.

Main Article: The Wonderful Ones

Overview[]

Once unlocked, the most noticeable effect of having Secret Wonderful Ones on your team is the fact that they aren't counted by the normal team size limit of 100, meaning they can increase your maximum team size past this, all the way to 115 Members once all are unlocked.

As a side effect of breaking the team limit, Secret Wonderful Ones have the added special benefit of not being removed from the team during most levels that restrict the team size or Unite Morphs available, such as Operation 007-A and 007-B and many Kahkoo-regah Secret Missions, allowing for new strategies that aren't normally possible in these levels.

Additionally, 10 of the 15 Secret Wonderful Ones also have Unite Morphs with unique abilities, which are known as Super Unite Morphs. Drawing the maximum sized weapon of a Secret Wonderful One who has such a Unite Morph unlocks the Super Unite Morph! Bottle-Cap.
A select few Secret Wonderful Ones also have other Special Abilities.

It should also be noted that Secret Wonderful Ones can only be unlocked from collecting Bottle-Caps after completing the game for the first time: should you manage to earn every Bottle-Cap required for a character before beating the game, they will not actually be unlocked until after the Epilogue is completed.

While normally content to fight from the confines of the Virgin Victory's operator console, Alice can get up close and personal with the invaders once unlocked as a Secret Wonderful One under the code-name Wonder-Scarf. Evidently, her cold demeanor rubbed off on her Wonderful Whip, as Wonder-Scarf forms a white-colored ice-elemental Unite Whip, making it a Super Unite Morph.

No.108 Wonder-Gramps[]

Secrets 8 Gramps
  • Name: James Shirogane
  • Occupation: Research Professor
  • Assignment: CENTINELS
  • Origin: Japan
  • Weapon: Time Bomb
  • Unite Morph: Gray Unite Bomb IconUnite Bomb

The CENTINELS chief of research, Professor Shirogane, can also be unlocked as a Secret Wonderful One under the code-name Wonder-Gramps. Not willing to do any of the dirty work himself apparently, Wonder-Gramps' Unite Bomb deals no damage, but in exchange, it now slows enemies for longer, making it a Super Unite Morph.

The exact duration of Unite Bomb's slow effect is actually somewhat dependent on the game's frame rate, and may actually last slightly longer at lower frame rates. The following times occur at a stable 60FPS:

  • Wonder-Gramps' Size 10 Unite Bomb slows enemies for about 2.75 Seconds (instead of 1.75 Seconds)
  • Wonder-Gramps' Size 20 Unite Bomb slows enemies for about 4.5 Seconds (instead of 2.75 Seconds)
  • Wonder-Gramps' Size 50 Unite Bomb slows enemies for about 7 Seconds (instead of 4.5 Seconds)

Young Will's dearly departed father, Arthur Wedgewood, can return as a Secret Wonderful One under the code-name Wonder-Daddy. With a burning passion for justice just like his son, Wonder-Daddy's red-colored Unite Claw has lost its freezing effect to become a fire-elemental attack, making it a Super Unite Morph.

Secrets 10 Future
  • Name: Will Wedgewood
  • Occupation: Kindergarten Student
  • Assignment: Clover Kindergarten
  • Origin: USA
  • Weapon: Son of a Hope
  • Unite Morph: Gray Unite Hand IconUnite Hand

Transcending time and space again through the power of Bottle-caps, Wonder-Red's childhood self, Young Will, can return as a Secret Wonderful One under the code-name Wonder-Future. Unfortunately, Wonder-Future isn't actually as big as he thinks, so he can't form a Unite Hand any bigger than size 10, but he's so feisty that not only is his Unite Hand lit on fire by default, but he also throws two fire balls with each punch instead of one, making it a Super Unite Morph.

Unlike the other Super Unite Morph users, Wonder-Future can't form a size 100 Unite Morph. Instead, Wonder-Future is automatically selected any time a size 10 Unite Hand is drawn.

A mysterious hero from parts unknown, Poseman can join forces with the team once unlocked as a Secret Wonderful One. This hot blooded hero can form a Unite Hand that's lit on fire by default, making it a Super Unite Morph.

Poseman also has a Special Ability, Heroic Forever:
Poseman possesses the innate ability to execute the Ukemi technique even without the Custom Block equipped, and upon landing after an Ukemi he strikes a cool pose that deals small amounts of damage to any enemy on screen.

Secrets 12 Director
  • Name: Unknown
  • Occupation: Game Designer
  • Assignment: -
  • Origin: Japan
  • Weapon: Sunny Sunglasses
  • Unite Morph: Gray Unite Goggles IconUnite Goggles

Part-time Wonderful One, part-time game designer, Wonder-Director can join forces with the team once unlocked as a Secret Wonderful One. Nobody's really sure where he comes from or what even he does, but his Sunny Sunglasses allow him to form a Unite Goggles that remains at larger sizes for twice as long as normal Unite Morphs, though it deals half as much damage as Wonder-Goggles' Unite Goggles, making it a Super Unite Morph.

Wonder-Director also has two super-secret Special Abilities:

  • First, Wonder-Director has the special power to die instantly from any damage in the game, even at full health!
  • Second, Wonder-Director runs slower than any other character in the game!

  • Origin: Inferno
  • Weapon: Yagyu
  • Unite Morph: Gray Unite Hammer IconUnite Hammer

Bayonetta's own gunsmith from hell, Rodin, can join forces with the team as a Secret Wonderful One under the code-name Wonder-Rodin. While normally content to watch others put his masterpieces to work, after Bayonetta turned down his newly developed magical hammer, Yagyu, he felt he had no choice but to join the battle himself to display its power. Instead of just an overhead strike, Rodin can use his supernatural strength as a demon to perform a three-hit combo using Unite Hammer, making it a Super Unite Morph.

  • Name: Unknown
  • Occupation: High-School Teacher
  • Assignment: -
  • Origin: Vigrid
  • Weapon: Angel Slayer
  • Unite Morph: Gray Unite Sword IconUnite Sword

Although it was Bayonetta's idea to help out the CENTINELS, her friend Jeanne can also join forces with the team as a Secret Wonderful One under the code-name Wonder-Jeanne. A proud Umbran Witch with a more traditional fighting style, Wonder-Jeanne's katana, Angel Slayer, allows her to form a white-colored Unite Sword that's electrified at all times, making it a Super Unite Morph.

Wonder-Jeanne also has two Special Abilities:

  • Wonder-Jeanne possesses the innate ability to activate Hero Time, even without the Custom Block equipped.
  • Additionally, Wonder-Jeanne's Unite Spring takes the form of the demon Gomorrah, causing it to deal damage in the same manner as Drill Spring. Her Unite Spring always takes this form, even if Unite Drill Spring is disabled in the Unite Morphs menu, which might be inconvenient.

Secrets 15 Bayonetta
  • Name: Unknown
  • Occupation: Nun
  • Assignment: -
  • Origin: Vigrid
  • Weapon: Scarborough Fair
  • Unite Morph: Gray Unite Gun IconUnite Gun

The ultimate reward for unlocking every Bottle-Cap in the game, PlatinumGames' own Bayonetta can join forces with the team as a Secret Wonderful One under the code-name Wonder-Bayonetta. As a master of the over-the-top Bullet Art fighting style, Wonder-Bayonetta was never going to be satisfied with just one Unite Gun... instead, Wonder-Bayonetta can form up to four red-colored Unite Guns at once. This sacrifices the Unite Morph's normal ability to take different forms or to perform Skills, in exchange for just plain being able to barrage enemies with shots from multiple pistols at once, making it the most unique Super Unite Morph of all.

But that's not all, because Wonder-Bayonetta also has not one, not two, but three Special Abilities:

  • Wonder-Bayonetta possesses the innate ability to activate Hero Time, even without the Custom Block equipped.
  • Additionally, Wonder-Bayonetta's Unite Spring takes the form of the demon Gomorrah, causing it to deal damage in the same manner as Drill Spring. Her Unite Spring always takes this form, even if Unite Drill Spring is disabled in the Unite Morphs menu, which might be inconvenient.
  • And as a last, secret ability, if Wonder-Bayonetta is selected as the team leader when Unite Big is used, instead of taking the form of Wonder-Green, the Unite Morph takes the form of Wonder-Bayonetta. Attacking with Wonder-Bayonetta's version of Unite Big performs a powerful Bayo PunchBayo PunchBayo PunchBayo PunchBayo Kick combo from the first Bayonetta game, which is considered a Unite Hand attack.

In addition to the many other ways of unlocking a Secret Wonderful One early, Wonder-Bayonetta is unlocked by default in the Wonder-Size Cadet Demo (which is merely an effect of demo save files starting with Wonderful Code Vol.1 "UMBRANGIFT" automatically entered.) Wonder-Size Cadet Demo save files can later be transferred to the full game.

Glitches[]

In the PC version of The Wonderful 101: Remastered, after earning the final Bottle-Cap required to unlock a Secret Wonderful One, the game may crash after automatically opening the Secrets menu to display the character you've just unlocked. If this crash is consistently happening in your game, you can prevent it by quickly opening and closing the pause menu after the Bottle-Cap is earned but before the Secrets menu is automatically opened: delaying the Secrets menu from opening this way seems to prevent the crash.

See the relevant section of the Glitches page for more information.

Trivia[]

Duplicate Characters

I'm seein' double here!

  • Wonder-Goggles' image in the Secrets menu erroneously uses Luka's civilian recruit model.
  • During the levels where you're joined by temporary story characters, any unlocked Secret Wonderful One versions of those characters won't replace the temporary recruit, and vice versa. This results in you having two of the same characters on your team. This oversight occurs with Luka (his Unite Hand-using civilian recruit form), Professor Shirogane (also in his Unite Hand-using civilian recruit form), Immorta, Chewgi, Vorkken, and Wonder-Goggles.
  • Between the 7 main Wonderful Ones and the 15 Secret Wonderful Ones, there are a total of 22 Wonderful Ones that could be considered "core team members" by the game, in the sense that they aren't removed from your team in levels that try to restrict your team size, such as Operation 007 and certain Kakhoo-regah Secret Missions. However, this is actually 2 more than the minimum possible team size of 20 that you can choose to enter levels with, which still takes precedence, meaning some characters will be excluded from your team. Which secret characters are excluded seems to be determined by the order they were unlocked in, and they will always be the same each time in a save file.
    • Minor Wonderful Ones also follow a set order like this to determine which team members are left out when manually selecting a smaller team size.
