"Unfortunately, my costumed comrades, our playdate is at an end. But don't worry, you can still play with my toys!! Muhahahahaha!"
― Laambo leaving the Wonderful Ones to be finished off by Die-Tiekuu, Operation 001-B
Laambo is a sixth-class officer of the GEATHJERK Federation Supreme Armada, and one of The Wonderful 101's main antagonists. A savage and violent warrior who already fought in past Earth Defense Wars, Laambo is often found fighting on the front lines himself, despite his high rank as a GEATHJERK Officer.
First encountered at the end of Operation 001-B, Laambo reappears throughout the game as a mini boss enemy, and he's fought as the boss of Operation 001-C alongside his pet and personal mount, the cyborg space monster Diekuu Ohrowchee Revived.
Laambo has a higher ranking twin brother named Walltha, who shares his combat abilities. Additionally, the Ankho enemy type possesses a nearly identical fighting style to Laambo and his brother.
GEATHJERK FILE[]
Sixth-class officer of the GEATHJERK Supreme Federation Armada.
Particularly twisted even by GEATHJERK standards, Laambo has left of trail of atrocity across the Galaxy.
As a soldier of the savage Golokey tribe from planet Doquuzu, Laambo possesses an extremely violent, war-loving nature. Fond of invasion tactics, he will give orders from the front lines, often happily joining the fray himself. Part of Laambo's body was modified with cyborg parts after being critically wounded 20 years prior by Commander Nelson during Earth Defense War II. This encounter left Laambo with a deep-seated hate for the man.
His weapon is a psycho-sword formed from his fighting spirit, called the Dechno-Bo. Having tamed the violent space monster Diekuu Ohrowchee of the Joolar solar system, he storms about the galaxy as if he has already conquered every system, near and far.
Description[]
Appearance[]

Laambo is a monstrous humanoid alien from planet Doquuzu with reptilian features, including four eyes, black scales with an orange underbelly, clawed hands and feet, and a hulking, hunched over posture with a billowing mane of red-orange fire running down his back and engulfing the tip of his tail. Rows of sharp fangs spill out from his mouth, causing him to roar and snarl constantly as he speaks. Preferring to fight on the front lines despite being a high-ranking officer, Laambo is heavily armed at all times, carrying not only his signature weapon: the Dechno-Bo, but also a similar pistol-sword capable of firing its blade, another small knife, as well as bandoliers of munitions and explosives slung over his red and blue commando uniform.
Laambo's left eyes are both covered by a double eyepatch, and his right eyes are almost completely obscured by his beret. One of Laambo's most notable features is his gold-colored cybernetic right leg, which replaced his original leg after his defeat during Earth Defense War II.
Laambo's sword, the Dechno-Bo, is an energy blade formed by its wielder's fighting spirit. Fitting of such a weapon, The color of the blade indicates Laambo's health, and it changes from blue, to green, to orange, and finally to red as he takes damage. The sword itself can also be damaged and will start to show cracks until it finally shatters, which stuns Laambo until he eventually recovers and reforms the blade.
Personality[]
As is often the case with GEATHJERK operatives, Laambo is a violent and cruel monster that only cares about inflicting as much death and destruction as possible. Such is Laambo's love of bloodshed that he often recklessly joins the front lines of battle despite his high rank, to the point that his own brother, Walltha, seemed to question his true loyalty to GEATHJERK's cause over his own love of violence.
Aside from Laambo's violent nature, his most notable personality trait is his sharp wit and insulting sense of humor, as he's known to make creative remarks and constantly taunt his opponents using colorful insults during battle.
Perhaps the only shred of compassion in Laambo's heart is his affection for his pet and personal mount, Diekuu Ohrowchee Revived, referring to it as "his beloved Ohrowchee" and becoming enraged after the Wonderful Ones succeeded in damaging it (although he does also refer to it as his toy in the same breath.)
Following his defeat at the hands of the original Wonder-Red, Laurence Nelson, during the events of Earth Defense War II, Laambo seemed to hold a bitter grudge against the CENTINELS commander. Because of their shared history, Laambo was deeply amused when he first met the new Wonder-Red after recognizing him from 20 years ago.
Gameplay[]

Laambo is primarily encountered as the boss of Operation 001-C, alongside his Cyborg Space Monster Diekuu Ohrowchee Revived: a long battle spanning several unique phases and gameplay mechanics in a struggle to prevent the destruction of Blossom City's Super Reactor (and to rescue Luka.)
- Main Article: Operation 001-C
Laambo is also fought directly as a mini boss enemy throughout the game, namely in Operation 001-B, 001-C, 006-B, and Operation 101. The following gameplay section on this page is focused on Laambo's abilities as an enemy, and strategies for fighting him:

As one of the game's mini bosses, Laambo is much more challenging to fight than most normal enemies. Not only is he fast and aggressive with his attacks, he's also difficult to stun and capable of resisting damage by blocking with his sword, making it difficult to find an opening against him.
Any time Laambo is attacked and he isn't busy, he'll start blocking using his sword. While blocking, Laambo's sword takes damage for him instead, protecting him from all frontal damage, and he may suddenly decide to attack at any time. However, after taking too much damage his sword will eventually break, stunning him for a long period of time.
Laambo has blockable punch and kick attacks, but blocking his attacks doesn't stun him. Instead, blocking Laambo's attacks briefly staggers him, creating a short window where he can be launched into the air using Wonderful Rising Skills before he recovers.
The rest of Laambo's attacks cannot be blocked, however, his overhead slash and side slash attacks can be countered through Unite Morph QTEs, which if done correctly will briefly stun him.
Unique to his Operation 006-B encounter, Laambo automatically becomes stunned after taking sufficient damage, causing him to drop a GEATH-Remote that allows you to recruit the Dough-Goos in battle with him. This stops happening after your team size reaches 50.

Forward Thrust | ||
Laambo will quickly step back with both hands on his sword and then thrust it into the ground ahead of him with a grunt. This attack can be identified by Laambo stepping back with his sword. This attack has a very long reach allowing it to easily hit from offscreen with little warning if Laambo is offscreen. | ||

Strategy[]

Laambo is fast and aggressive, but his attacks are fairly easy to react to if you listen for his grunting and growling audio cues before each attack. All of Laambo's sword attacks can be dodged using Unite Spring, and his whirlwind slash can be avoided by running far away from him before it starts. Laambo's tail whip is harder to react to, but he only uses it when you're behind him, meaning you can avoid it by staying in front of him.
Out of all of Laambo's attacks, the most important ones to look out for are his punch and kick attacks, as blocking them makes it briefly possible to launch him into the air using Wonderful Rising. As Laambo is difficult to stun, launching him immediately after blocking these attacks is your best opportunity to deal large amounts of damage to him.

Attacking Laambo when he's blocking may seem useless at first, but his sword actually takes damage and can eventually break, which stuns Laambo for a long period of time. This makes it worth attacking Laambo as much as possible to try and break his sword, however he can still attack at any time while blocking, so you have to be ready to defend yourself while trying this.
It's worth noting that Laambo can be damaged from behind while he's blocking, however, going behind him puts you in danger of being hit by his tail whip attack, so it's not worth it.
Outside of stunning Laambo by breaking his sword, or launching him after blocking his punch or kick, you can also create an opening by stunning him using Climb Attacks. However, Laambo's speed makes it almost impossible to get the large number of team members required to stun him (20) onto him in time before they fall off if you're only using Team Attacks. If you want to stun Laambo this way, you'll need to use a combination of Unite Gun's Wonderful Stinger, Formation Charge, and either Unite Bomb or Hero Time's time stop effect.
Once unlocked, Unite Launcher can easily stun Laambo in two missile barrages.

Finally, Laambo is one of the few enemies in the game with QTEs: when Laambo performs his overhead or side slash attacks, Wonder-Blue or Wonder-White may signal for you to switch to Unite Sword or Unite Claw (respectively) and stand in the path of the attack. If you manage to do this before Laambo completes his attack, you'll trigger a QTE that briefly stuns him.
These QTEs are the easiest way to stun Laambo, so you should try to do them whenever he gives you the opportunity, provided you can draw the correct Unite Morph and get into position quickly enough.
Because you have to dodge most of Laambo's attacks anyway, the Hero Time Custom Block can help create extra openings for you to attack him. Just try to avoid triggering Hero Time off his whirlwind slash, as the time stop will just extend the attack's duration, potentially wasting a lot time.

Trivia[]
- Not only do Laambo and Walltha share the same voice actors (Bob Joles and Yasuhiko Kawazu,) but they also reuse some of the same voice lines.
- Laambo's name is derived from "乱暴 (ranbō)", a Japanese word meaning violent or rude. [1]
- Laambo's name might also be a reference to Rambo, and given his first appearance in the game takes place in a sports stadium, possibly even a reference to Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
- The name of Laambo's psycho-sword, the Dechno-Bo, is derived from "木偶の坊 (deku no bō)", a Japanese word for wooden puppet, which is used as a metaphor for someone stupid and useless.[1]
- The name of Laambo's Tribe, the Golokey tribe, is derived from "顎 (ago)", the Japanese word for jaw, and "ロック (rokku)", the Japanese word for lock, meaning it could be translated as the Lockjaw tribe.[1]
- The name of Laambo's home planet, Doquuzu, is derived from "ド (do)", a Japanese prefix meaning super, and "屑 (kuzu)", a Japanese word equivalent to human trash or scumbag.[1]
- Ohrowchee and Laambo's deaths in Operation 001-C (being sliced in two down the middle) is extremely similar to the defeat of Orochi in Ōkami, another game directed by Hideki Kamiya prior to The Wonderful 101.
- Their deaths are also similar to the destruction of the Metal Gear RAY in the prologue of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.
- Laambo and Walltha are partially based on the "Red Oni, Blue Oni" character dynamic, where two related characters come into conflict over their opposing personalities. In this case, Laambo's reckless violence represents the hot-blooded Red Oni brother, whereas Walltha's stronger loyalty to GEATHJERK represents the more responsible Blue Oni brother. The "Red Oni, Blue Oni" character dynamic is a common trope in Japanese storytelling, with some other examples including Dante and Vergil from the Devil May Cry series, and The Wonderful 101's own Red Oni and Blue Oni Wonderful Ones.
