Die-Rixens are mobile fortresses used by the GEATHJERK Federation Supreme Armada. Derived from the Die-Tiekuu's design, Die-Rixens are heavily modified for land mobility and ground-based warfare, essentially turning the original fortress into a gigantic tank.
First encountered in the final mission of Operation 004-B, Die-Rixens are powerful mini boss enemies that can also be found inside certain Kahkoo-regah Secret Missions.
GEATHJERK File[]
A large-scale tank designed for ground-based warfare.
Derived from a modified Type-98 Mobile Anti-Ship fortress, it combines the firepower of the Type-98 with optimized mobility for ground-based warfare. The resulting unit has become the primary weapon used by GEATHJERK during ground battles.
Its six wheels are each capable of independent movement, and the sharp GEATH-Titanium spikes on its frontmost wheels give it enhanced grip on rough terrain, as well as the ability to deal frightful amounts of damage to any enemy unlucky enough to fall under them.
While the Die-Rixen may have sacrificed its base model's ability to fly, it has made up for it with the addition of heavy, super-reinforced armor that gives even the strongest anti-tank defenses a run for their money. This armor is also waterproof, enabling the Die-Rixen to take part in sea-based combat as well.
Description[]
Die-Rixens are vehicular fortresses resembling a gigantic six-wheeled tank, armed with a large main cannon at the top of the vehicle, four secondary cannons resembling a Tiekuu's cannon on each corner, and spike-covered front wheels. Additionally, a hatch on the front of a Die-Rixen can open to deploy You-Houghs.
Die-Rixens are heavily armored and take significantly reduced damage from attacks, however, on their back side is a flat wall that can be climbed to access a bulkhead on the back of their main cannon, which can be pulled open to expose the Die-Rixen's only weak point. However, unless a Die-Rixen is stunned, it will use its wheels to violently spin in place any time an attacker comes close enough to attempt this.
Like most GEATHJERK forces, the colored details on a Die-Rixen indicates its health: changing from blue, to green, to orange, and finally to red as it's damaged until it's destroyed. Additionally, each of the Die-Rixen's four secondary cannons take damage separately, and also change in color when damaged. If destroyed, a Die-Rixen's secondary cannons are eventually replaced via teleportation.
Gameplay[]
The key to defeating a Die-Rixen is to stun it by destroying all four of its secondary cannons at the same time, making it possible to climb up its back and attack its weak point, which is the only way to deal full damage to it. Die-Rixens can also be stunned by dealing a large amount of damage to them directly, however, this is usually slower than destroying their cannons.
The easiest way to destroy a Die-Rixen's cannons is to throw their projectiles back at them. Throughout the battle, the Die-Rixen's cannons will fire cannonballs and spike balls at random locations around you: the spike balls have to be thrown back using Unite Gun or Unite Whip, while the normal cannonballs can be thrown back more easily by circling them using the Wonder-Liner instead.
The cannons can also be attacked directly, however, you'll have to be prepared to dodge the spin attack while doing this, making this a riskier strategy.
Meanwhile, the Die-Rixen will charge and spin around at random during battle. It will also spin if you come too close to it. Die-Rixens always turn their middle wheels before spinning, so watch them carefully any time you're close enough to be hit by the attack, and get away when you see them turn.
Spinning always turns a Die-Rixen around 180°, so it can be convenient at times to intentionally make it spin to change what side its cannons are on, making them easier to hit.
Throughout the battle, the Die-Rixen will periodically use its main cannon to bombard the area with drill missiles or blast you with a flamethrower.
The drill missiles are fairly easy to avoid thanks to the red targets that appear on the ground, however, the flamethrower often appears with no warning: technically, the main cannon turns red before using the flamethrower attack, however, because it's usually offscreen, you'll rarely see this in time. Fortunately, the flamethrower covers a small area and doesn't follow you, so it usually misses you completely if you just keep moving during battle.
Once the Die-Tiekuu is finally stunned, switch to Unite Claw to climb up its back and open the bulkhead to access its weak point, and use a powerful Unite Morph like a max size Unite Hand to deal as much damage as possible before it recovers.
When the Die-Rixen recovers, it'll get up, respawn any missing cannons, and immediately spin to try and throw you off, so stop attacking and jump off immediately to avoid being hit. At this point, repeat the process of stunning it until it's defeated.
Although Die-Rixens are susceptible to Climb Attacks, it doesn't appear to be possible to stun them in this way.
On Hard and 101% Hard, Die-Rixens gain the ability to spawn You-Houghs from a hatch in their front, which might catch you off guard the first time it happens. The You-Houghs should be killed as quickly as possible so they don't distract you, which can easily be done using a max size Unite Sword or throwing a max size Unite Bomb.
