Demo: Boot Camp was a free pre-release demo for the Wii U version of The Wonderful 101. It was made available to download in all regions on August 9th, 2013, before the full game was first released later that month. It was available on the Wii U eShop until it's closure on March 27th, 2023.
Unlike the Wonder-Size Cadet Demo for the Remastered version of the game, the demo for the Wii U version of The Wonderful 101 featured some notable differences from the full version of the game.

Content and Differences[]
The Wii U demo for The Wonderful 101 consisted of a preview of the full game's Story Mode as well as its multiplayer mode, Wonderful Missions. As with most game demos released on the Nintendo Wii U eShop, The Wonderful 101's demo was also restricted to a limited number of uses before it could no longer be played on the console that downloaded it. In The Wonderful 101's case, its demo was limited to 30 uses.
General Differences[]
- Tutorial images displaying how to use Unite Hand, Unite Sword, Unite Gun, Unite Guts, and Unite Spring are displayed on the Input Panel of the Subscreen. Attempting to use the Input Panel to draw the Wonder-Liner temporarily hides these images.
- The demo lacks any intro cinematics, and the title screen does not play any cinematics if left idle.
- The demo does not include a save feature, meaning your scores or progress in Story Mode and in Wonderful Missions are not saved after completing or quitting the levels. The retry option in Story mode is also disabled.
- The demo does not include any Miiverse functionality.
- After completing either Story Mode or Wonderful Missions, a preview video for the full game plays, after which you're returned to the main menu.
Story Mode[]
The demo's Story Mode consists solely of a modified version of Operation 001-A, which can be played on either the Very Easy, Easy (default), or Normal difficulty levels. The demo also starts the player with the following abilities and items:
- Wonder-Red, Wonder-Blue, the 18 "starter" Minor Wonderful Ones, and Wonder-Green on your team.
- The following items in your inventory:
- 01× Fire Victory Torpedo
- 01× Thunder Victory Torpedo
- 01× Shocking Red
- 05× Justice Missiles
- 10× Space Peppers
- 10× Space Carrots
- 10× Space Eggplants
- One Custom Block slot, and the following Custom Blocks: Unite Charge, Double Power, Dodge Mine, and Full Automatic (only if playing on Easy or Very Easy, will be automatically equipped if playing on Very Easy)
- In addition to the normal starting Unite Morphs (Unite Hand, Unite Sword, Unite Chain, and Unite Glider), the demo starts players with the following additional Unite Morphs: Unite Guts, Unite Spring, and Unite Gun.
- The Wonderful Rising Skill for Unite Hand, Unite Sword, and Unite Gun (this also results in the Aspiring Technician Bottle-Cap being automatically unlocked.)
Story Mode immediately begins at the start of Operation 001-A, with no tutorial or story cutscene. The level itself is largely identical to the full game version, however there are certain differences:
- Mission 001 notably does not spawn a Chew Dough-Goo during the first wave of the Mission, only the second.
- Certain tutorial popups appear in different locations in the demo. The demo also includes additional tutorial popups not seen in the full game.
- The level automatically ends upon completing Mission 010 (the first encounter with a Diedough-Goo), making the rest of the level past this point inaccessible.
The level still contains all of the same hidden items and collectibles that can be found in the full version of the game, and it is even possible to unlock Bottle-Caps. However, as progress is not saved in the demo, nor is it possible to transfer progress to the full game, there's no point in doing so.
Wonderful Missions[]
Only one level, Easy-A, is available to play in the demo, and like the full version of the game, up to 5 players can join at once to play in multiplayer.
Unlike Operation 001-A in the demo's story mode, Easy-A is unchanged from the full game version, and can be played in full. However, there are still some differences from the full game version when Wonderful Missions:
- Players are limited to using Unite Hand, Unite Sword, and Unite Gun only. This is unlike the full version of the game, where all seven main Unite Morphs are always available, even if not yet unlocked in the selected save file. Secret Unite Morphs, which become possible to find during Bonus Time if they're unlocked in the selected save file, are obviously not available in the demo.
- Players automatically start with the following abilities:
(These are the same starting abilities as in Story Mode)- The normal starting Unite Morphs (Unite Hand, Unite Sword, Unite Chain, and Unite Glider.)
- Additionally Unite Guts, Unite Spring, and Unite Gun.
- The Wonderful Rising Skill for Unite Hand, Unite Sword, and Unite Gun.
