Ankhos are amphibious space beasts by the GEATHJERK Federation Supreme Armada. Toughened by the high gravity of their home planet and deep sea natural habitat, Ankhos are adaptable predators that are intelligent enough to be equipped with weapons, allowing them to fight more like a soldier than a wild animal.
First encountered in Operation 004-B, Ankhos are essentially just a regular enemy version of Laambo, as they possess all of his attacks and abilities with only a few differences.
GEATHJERK File[]
A space beast that lives in the depths of liquid nitrogen oceans.
Its natural habitat is approximately 100,000 meters below sea level on the planet Shingki, which possesses 10 times greater mass than Earth. However, despite its predilection to liquid environments, Ankho can surface and even go on land in search of prey. These excursions mean it possesses hands and feet rather than the fins of fully aquatic creatures, and Shingki's super-high gravity has shaped the Ankho's bodies to be incredibly tough.
Ferocious and unpredictable by nature, they are fitted with psychic-control headsets to ensure they can distinguish between ally and enemy.
Their high intelligence allows them to use weapons, and they wield GEATHJERK magnetic-guided chainsaws to hunt down their prey.
Description[]

Ankho without a headset
Ankhos are monstrous humanoid aliens from planet Shingki with a hulking, hunched over posture, a long whip-like tail, and thick carapace-like skin that's light teal in color with dark stripes and yellowish countershading on their underbelly.
As deep sea creatures, Ankhos possess several distinctly aquatic features, including partially translucent fins on their shoulders and lower back, a tall and spiny dorsal fin, a bioluminescent lure attached to the top of their head, and a dome-shaped transparent face covering a row of seven eyes inside their head.
Like other space beasts, Ankhos possess rows of flashing dots along their bodies in the form of bioluminescent lights on their chests and inner arms, and their seven eyes also flash in sequence.
Ankhos are all fitted with a black psychic-control headset that ensures they attack the correct targets, and every Ankho is equipped with a magnetic-guided chainsaw: a large sword with a black handle and a holographic chainsaw for a blade.
When damaged, the color of an Ankho's fins, its face, its sword, and the details on its headset change in color to indicate its health: all changing from blue, to green, to orange, and finally to red as it's damaged until it's destroyed. An Ankho's sword can also be damaged and will start to show cracks until it finally shatters, which stuns the Ankho until it eventually recovers and reforms the blade.
Additionally, after being reduced to roughly 1/8th of their health, their psychic-control headset breaks off entirely, though this has no actual effect on their behavior.

Ankhos possess all of Laambo's attacks and abilities, including the same variety of fast and aggressive sword attacks, blocking with a breakable sword, using a fast tail whip attack if you go behind them, punch and kick attacks that only stagger when blocked, and unique QTE counters to certain attacks. This means that all the same strategies for fighting Laambo also apply to fighting Ankhos, however, there are some differences:
- See Laambo#Gameplay for a strategy section that almost fully applies to Ankhos.
There are only two differences between fighting Laambo and fighting Ankhos:
First, When Ankhos jump into the air to attack, rather than thrusting their sword into the ground like Laambo, they stomp on the ground using their feet. This means that the attack can now be blocked using Unite Guts, and doing so will actually fully stun the Ankho, making it extremely useful to look out for.
A second difference is that Ankhos have much quieter audio cues when attacking. When compared to Laambo's loud grunts and growls, this essentially means that Ankhos attack silently. This makes it more difficult to react to an Ankho's attacks, especially if they go offscreen, making it much more important to keep an Ankho fully on-screen and to actually watch its animations to know when it's about to attack.
Collectibles[]
GEATHJERK File No.022[]

- Location: Operation 005-A
The Ankho GEATHJERK File is an Underground Item located in the starting area of the level, on top of the giant pink mushroom next to the wooden cable car.
Enemy Weapon[]

When killed using the correct Unite Morph, an Ankho will drop its Enemy Weapon: the Ankho Sword.
Ankho Swords are 10 charge enemy weapons that perform an overhead slash into the ground when used, making them similar to Orgon Tails. Ankho Swords are slow and deal somewhat low damage, however, their extremely large size makes them effective at hitting several enemies at the same time, or even a single large enemy multiple times in a single attack. This makes them fairly powerful in certain situations, but less useful against individual small enemies.
Due to their extremely large size, Ankho Swords can be awkward to carry through certain areas. In these situations, Unite Ball can be used to move more easily while holding an Enemy Weapon.
As a sharp weapon, Ankho Swords can be used to attack a Nyerk.

Trivia[]
- The name Ankho is derived from "アンコウ (ankō)", the Japanese word for anglerfish, in reference to the glowing lure on an Ankho's forehead.[1]
- The name of the Ankho's home planet, Shingki, is derived from "深海 (shinkai)", the Japanese word for the deep sea. [1]
- The Ankho's transparent face is reminiscent of the transparent head of a Barreleye fish.
- According to their concept art, Ankhos have poor eyesight, and rely on sound to find their prey, however this trait doesn't appear in the actual game.
- Due to a minor glitch, an Ankho's sword occasionally isn't reformed properly after it's broken, resulting in the Ankho having an invisible sword for the rest of a fight.
